Araxos Airport – Patras is located in the Municipality of Dytiki Achaia (West of the prefecture of Achaia), 45 kilometers from the city centre of Patras and 260 kilometers from the Greek capital, Athens. The airport operates during the whole year, mainly servicing private jets in winter period. In autumn and summer Araxos Airport – Patras flies to many European destinations with scheduled or charter flights.

Araxos Airport was constructed in 1941 as a military airport and since 1980-es it has been operated as a civil airport in Greece.

It is still characterized as a military airport since it still functions as an active air base for Hellenic air force. So each private flight is required an authorization by HCAA.

During the summer period civil airlines carry out flights in the airport generally as charter flights, but also not only.

International air carriers such as AEROFLOT – AIR BERLIN – JETAIR – TUIFLY – SMARTWINGS – RYANAIR connect European cities MOSCOW – DUSSELDORF – MILANO – PAPHOS – PRAGUE – STUGGART with Peloponesse.

Araxos airport capacity is more than 133 000 passengers during a season, according to the technical characteristics the airport is capable to accept any kind of aircrafts.

Airport is located near Araxos cape, Achaea Prefecture and serves the city of Patras as well as the western part of the Peloponese region.

The distance from the nearest city Patra is 40, it takes preliminary 30 minutes drive.

Araxos Airport Facilities
Araxos is a small but convenient airport. In the departures area you can find a gift shop, duty free shops and a snack bar where you can get drinks, snacks, sandwiches and ice creams while you can buy the Patras Traditional Products.

Araxos Airport Parking

There is a free parking area in the airport. Araxos Airport Parking counts 75 parking places, located just a few meters from the terminal gate. The parking area is surrounded by security fence however the airport is not responsible for the safety of the cars.

Car parking booking service is not currently provided.

An alternative solution is to park your car in the city of Patras city centre and pick up the bus to Araxos Airport.

A convenient solution is Car Hire from Araxos Airport. However we strongly recommend you to book in advance escpecially in peak period.
